Q4: - How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

I initially used various search engines such as Google, Wikipedia and YouTube to look up bands and songs connected to the genre. I also put many on my blog. I then used things like scribed, keep vid, Jing, Live Type and Imovie to get the ball rolling on starting to create our music video. I then used an arrange of media's to help make our project look more professional these include Da font, pick nick, Photoshop and picsearch (these were only used during the making of the digi packs).

Q3: - What have you learned from your audience feedback?

My audience commented on the pace of editing stating that it was on the beat and that it was in tome with the lyrics. They also said that the costumes and equipment being used were very fitting with the type of music we were doing and connected to this when I asked them to comment on the sort of colours being used they were appropriate and that they didn't look out of place and that they would have expected to see them and other similar variations. This screen capture best displays that in my opinion.

When I asked them to say what they would change they suggested changing some of the cutaways in particular they mentioned the one where Freddie is performing with tape over his mouth because they felt that it didn't make sense (as shown in the screen capture below) and also that it didn't fit in with the music video's message. They also stated that in parts they suffered form viewer fatigue due to some of the performance extracts being too long so possibly quicker editing or more cutaways are needed.

Q2: - How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

I believe the combination of both our music video and the digi pack and the advert is very effective because they both complement each other well and vice versa. If these were to be used in a live situation fans would easily would be able to identify with the genre of music being played and able to grasp basic information through the advert and digi pack enabling them to gather a basic idea about what Burnt Through Your Mind are about and what their message and ideals are.

We achieved this also thought the use of genre related fonts and colour schemes that also help with band image and purpose for instance Burnt Through Your Mind and Blood Red Ocean make me thin of the colour Red so Red is the colour we used for the album name.

Below are copy's of our front outer panel  of our digi pack (left) and our advertisement poster (right). We  originally had both the band name "Burnt Through Your Mind' and "Blood Red Ocean" the album both in red. We then changed this and moved the band name up into the top lift hand conner when people started getting confused as to which was the album name and which was the band's title it didn't help the fact that these hear are the final draft (Right) and the second draft (Left) were even harder to differ between the two.

Q1: In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Similar to other digi packs and adverts within our chosen metal genre ours have a similar colour scheme, image and style. We specifically looked at things like framing of images clothing of performer and colours used within the adverts. We came to a decision after we came up with the band name Blood Red Ocean.

Our music video mostly complimented the genre we had decided also looking at things like performer/ band identity we all thought about it in depth and I believe we all had our own individual traits and image for instance my character always wears gloves both in the advert and when performing.

For both types of image we framed them similarly and again used similar colouring also in terms of Mise en Scene we wore similar costumes that fitted in with the chosen genre and with the video as well.

Below is a copy of our Director's commentary in which I explain some of the conventions we used and why we used them: -

Location Permission Letter

And above is the copy of when it was comfermed

Advert Design

Similar to our CD cover design is our poster design also adopting a similar colour scheme to again reflect the genre of music, the band image and style and also the lyrics.

Also similar to the CD cover are our image for the Advert for the proper one we are going to first plan then take a picture of the whole band in a genrelistic pose.

CD cover design

Below are our groups CD cover design which we thought about hard and we tryed to come up with something that would reflect our chosen genre of music and also link to the lyrics as well.

For the real one what we planed to with the images we planned to take pictures which we have put together and with the pictures of the band we would probably take them whilst they were performing.

Talent Release Form

This is a copy of our Talent release form that we needed to get people to sign, if they want to be in our music video. This Protects us from breaching terms of Copy right and from people's concerns about putting there image on the internet.

Track Permission letter

Our group went to the record label website and sent them a message from there and gave our email and a number so they could contact us back, this is a print screen of our finished message.

Photo Shoot Plan

Below is our photo shoot plan that we made to know when we where going to take the photos for the album cover. We agreed these times because that's when we are all free and we would have the time to get it done as well. Concept

This is our video that we made specifically for this post, we thought that we should do it this way not only to make it visual but also to show and say exactly what we meen rather than hopelessly trying to put it into words. Because what we meen might not come across as well as if we explain it and also it looks boreing if we just put a spider diagram on a post but in the video you can see our spider diagram on the white board ans we're eplaining what we are joting down and why we thought of it.

He's stated that I have a large number of posts missing which is partly my fault and partly not. And he's also said that some post's for instance post 6 the Image Annotation could be improved.

Storyboarding

This is my group in the process of composing our Animated Storyboarding which I started working on in the leson this also helped us deligate who's doing which role within the group.

And below are pictures of the final copy which we are in the process of making into an animated film on final cut -

Above is a short section of film of me annotating into our story boards what is happening in each shot and why we chose to have this at this point in the video so was it because of lyrics or because of the music ect...

image annotation

Based on the genre (rock) we would like the artist in the video to look very stereotypical of a rock band and this will mean following conventions of an artist. This will include:

  • Black t-shirts with gothic graphics on it
  • Skinny jeans, various colours
  • Straightened hair, rough/jagged
  • Vans (Canvas shoes)
  • Tape (accessory)
  • Anti-Christ like jewellery
  • Make-up, foundation, eyeliner, painted finger nails
  • Tattoo's
  • Dark hoodies
  • Wooly hats/Tight baseball caps
  • Piercings eg. Nose, ears, lips, eyebrows
This is what my group and I will encorporate in order to achieve the most realistic music video we can. Also, this will build up the relationship between the viewers and the artist as they will know the song is based on thier genre just from seeing how they dress.
